Year 5/6 Blogpost 21.03.25

Dear Parents,

We hope you have had a lovely week. It's been a hectic one at school. Plenty of learning, hard work and fun going on in Year 5 and 6! Red Nose Day was a huge success today. Thank you for all your kind donations. Please check out the school newsletter to see what we have been up to.

YEAR 6 MOCK SATs
Next week the Year 6 children will be sitting their Mock SATs. This is our chance to ensure that we iron out anything - it's good to fix any hiccups now! We hope the children have a restful weekend and will be ready to approach the week with determination and focus.

YEAR 6 EXTRA HOMEWORK
This week your child will come home with extra maths homework (on top of their CGP books)
We would appreciate it if you could ensure that they complete this over the weekend. It should not take too long and will help your child revise in the run up to SATs in early May. Thank you for your support.

Please also ensure that your child is regularly:

  • Reading: Remember 15-20 minutes reading to an adult every day is the optimum and should be continuing into Year 6. Please also encourage your child to read by themselves and then discuss the text afterwards, sharing opinions, their favourite part or questioning what happened so as to ensure that your child is understanding the text as well as reading it. All children have a Reading record to take home.
  • Spelling words - please practise these at home by revising them from your spelling and times table notebook and by writing them down. This week we are up to Spelling rule 57.
  • TTRS/Sumdog - lots of practice on these amazing programmes that complement what we learn at school. Please see your reading diaries for login details.
  • This weeks times table is: 8's

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend.
