Dear Parents/Carers,

The children have worked exceptionally hard this week in their assessments. We have had a rollercoaster of emotions, so please see the following to give some ideas keeping our lovely Year 6's calm in the upcoming weeks:

SATs CLUB

After the Easter Holidays, we would like all of the year 6 children to attend SATs Booster club for the final 3 Wednesday’s before the real SATs begin on 11th May. This will give the children the best chances to be prepared for SATs to ensure they keep up their excellent progress they have achieved so far.

Many thanks,

Mrs Hurley and Mr Greenfield

  • Reading: Remember 15-20 minutes reading to an adult every day is the optimum and should be continuing into Year 6. Please also encourage your child to read by themselves and then discuss the text afterwards, sharing opinions, their favourite part, or questioning what happened so as to ensure that your child is understanding the text as well as reading it. All children have a Reading record to take home.
  • Spelling words - please practise these at home by revising them from your spelling and times table notebook and by writing them down. This week we are up to Spelling rule Rule 57 for Daisy class. Year 6 children will be tested on the spellings from their assessment this week. All children have taken their spellings home with them today.
  • TTRS/Sumdog - lots of practice on these amazing programmes that complement what we learn at school. Please see your reading diaries for login details.
